If I could venture a guess, I would say that at least a dozen times along the spiritual path your mind has formed some sort of “conclusion” about where the path is leading. Your mind has informed you of its intricate understanding, its deep assurance that the path leads HERE and is all about THIS.
Well, sorry, but the mind is, and always will be, full of crap when it comes to understanding the spiritual journey. It will never know. Which means, any time you think you know where the journey is going, YOU DON’T!!
Does this mean you are “flying blind” with no idea what to do? No, not really. While you may have no idea where you are going, Something else does. At times along the journey, you will inevitably experience one or more lovely “ah-ha!” moments. Insight or revelation will awaken a knowing in you, an understanding, and for a brief moment, you will have a sense, an intuitive feel, for what this spiritual journeying is all about.
You may be able to put it into words, you may not. It doesn’t matter, for the words won’t mean anything. But those moments of insight will not only give you a glimpse of the journey’s “destination”, but they will also give you a sense of what to do next. Or not do next as they case may be.
The key point here is those insights do NOT come from the mind. If there is a true moment of clarity for you, it was not mind generated. The mind may have something to say about the “ah-ha!” after the fact, but it did not conjure it up. Something beyond the mind is the Source.
I can tell you from lots of experience that listening to your mind and thoughts is not the way to go. You will only become frustrated, confused, unhappy or, even worse, a bit ego inflated. Better to sit back, relax, and let the Universe reveal itself to you in Its own way and in Its own time.
